Why We are Advocating

We need a more robust emergency response system for people in crisis in our community.

There is a global movement towards reducing police responses to mental health calls. RCMP Chief superintendent Brad Haugli has called for IHA to review their investment here.

IHA has been non-committal to both the RCMP and the City’s calls to review the partnership and response policies to date. It’s time for the community to ask for an immediate response from IHA Board.

Families with a loved one suffering from addiction
Families with a suicidal family member
Families of an LGBTQ youth
Families without a primary care physician
Families with limited means
Families struggling with a life transition or tragedy

Car 40 Partnership

The expansion of the Car 40 partnership would enable more people to recieve compassionate intervention in crisis.

After Hours Emergencies

The program runs only on weekdays in Kamloops. This may not align with the needs of the community.

Meaningful Partnerships

Real, meaningful and insightful dialogue with invested parties would help Interior Health target funds to best fill gaps in Kamloops.
